Dealing with topical contemporary issues is a thread running through most pieces of sculpture produced. This one is particularly poignant and close to the heart.

This sculpture is about hope in the face of mans inhumanity towards his fellow creatures. The dream that one day, through education and understanding man will eventually learn to live peacefully and harmoniously with all life forms.

In 1986 the International Whaling Commission enacted a moratorium on all commercial whaling. Since then ,three nations-Iceland, Norway and Japan- have brutally slaughtered over 25,000 whales under the guise of scientific research and for commercial purposes.

Humans kill a 100 million sharks a year, mainly for shark fin soup. The hooked sharks are hauled onto boats; their fins are sliced off while they are still alive. These helpless animals are then tossed back into the ocean where unable to swim without fins, they sink towards the bottom and die an agonizing death. With 90% of the worlds large shark populations already wiped out, sharks are being depleted faster than they can reproduce.

A mass slaughter of dolphins and porpoises occurs in Japan each year. They are herded into a shallow bay at Taiji and mercilessly stabbed to death.
